Rice cultivation area trend in Pakistan from 1993-2017

Rice is one of the major kharif (winter) crop of Pakistan and mainly cultivated in Punjab and Sindh province of Pakistan while KPK and Baluchistan also contribute in the rice production of the country. Rice cultivation required consistent supply of irrigation water, water supply situation during cultivation season determine the cultivated area of the rice in country. 2187.1 (‘000’ hac) in 1993 used for rice cultivation as compared to 2724 (‘000’ Hac) in 2017. The highest area of rice cultivation from 1993 to 2017 is 2962.6 (‘000’ Hac) during 2008-2009.
