Winter Vegetables growing in Pakistan

Winter vegetables in Pakistan, are sowing in the mild winter or cold climate mostly started from the months of September and October. The vegetables that start germinating in the starting of winter season will give fruiting till February and March. This is growing guide chart/calendar of winter vegetables growing in Pakistan’s plant areas. This guide / calendar is not for the northern areas it is only for southern plains.

In Pakistan commonly sown vegetables in winter include:

 Broccoli

Potato

Potato 55-70 At bloom time or time of second hilling Regularly, when tubers start to form

Onion

Onion 34-36 When bulbs begin to swell, and again when plants are one foot tall Only during drought conditions

Lettuce leaf

Lettuce 40-75 Two to three weeks after transplanting Once a week

Cauliflower

Cauliflower 65-75 Three weeks after transplanting Once, three weeks before harvest

Turnip

You can also sow tomato in winter if there temperatures do not go very low or you can grow under low tunnels using plastic sheet.
