205,000 tons of wheat seed demanded to overcome flood tide losses

National Assembly Standing Committee on National Food Security and Research on Tuesday was informed that over,000 tons of wheat seeds would be needed to attack with the requirements of the growers of flood tide affected areas in the country.

The commission which met then with Member National Assembly( MNA) Rao Muhammad Ajmal Khan in president, bandied the matters relating to reanimation of husbandry sector and prostrating the desolation caused due to recent flash cataracts and torrential rains. The meeting also meditated on the arrangements so far made for the sowing of Rabi crops, particularly civilization of wheat in flood tide hit areas in the country as wheat was the major cash crop and vital source to fulfill the salutary requirements of original population.

Meanwhile, elderly officers of Ministry of National Food Security and Research briefed the commission about the arrangements made for wheat sowing in flood tide hit areas in the country and other way which were being taken to revive original husbandry sector after desolation of flash cataracts and torrential rains. It was further informed that government was preparing a special package of impulses for wheat farmers of flood tide hit areas to restore and revive the husbandry in these areas, adding that the package would have special focus on enhancing area under wheat civilization. either, it was also proposed to give one bag per- acre DAP to growers of the affected areas as an quantum of Rs80 billion would be needed to execute this scheme, which would insure proper input of diseases during the season in areas that were affected due to cataracts.

The commission acquainted that the parochial governments would also have to pay their 50 percent share in this subvention scheme and the package of impulses for flood tide hit areas would be presented before Prime Minister for blessing. Meanwhile, Secretary Committee Rao Ajmal Khan directed the Ministry of National Food Security and Research to take immediate way for icing the vacuity of all husbandry inputs during Rabi season, particularly for the growers of flood tide effected areas in the country. He also directed the ministry for icing acceptable force of pukka seeds of wheat to farmers in order to bring maximum area under wheat civilization to fulfill the original conditions of chief grains.
The meeting also directed the civil and parochial governments to take immediate measures to insure provision of all agrarian inputs to growers, particularly the growers of flood tide hit areas in the country to insure time sowing of different crops to maintain food safety and security in the country. Among others, the meeting was also attended by the elderly officers of Ministry of National Food Security and Research and its confederated departments including Pakistan Agriculture Research Council and others.
